How often do you get off your horse on a hot summer day, cringe at the sight of your sweaty helmet, but simply ignore it as you put the helmet back in your tack closet? Well, you are in luck – this simple DIY helmet refresher spray for equestrians is just up your ally!
The Oils – Quality Matters
For all of my DIY recipes, I am sure to use Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) oils. Did you know that there are only 3 companies out there that live up to this standard? I definitely don’t want to be applying any oils to myself, my family or my animals that I’m not sure are pure and third party tested! I personally love Doterra’s brand of oils for this particular reason. You can check them out here!
In making this helmet refresher recipe, I chose Purify oil blend and Lavender. Purify oil blend is made with oils known for their cleansing properties, and it smells so fresh! What oils are in this blend? We’ve got Lemon, Lime, Siberian Fir, Tea Tree and Citronella and Cilantro…all good things when looking for a cleansing and freshening oil! Don’t forget your Lavender when making this spray! It smells fantastic when combined with Purify! Not to mention, Lavender is known for its antibacterial and antifungal properties! Another option would be to add Peppermint instead of Lavender – a very refreshing combination when added with Purify. Peppermint also has those same antibacterial properties.
The DIY Helmet Spray Recipe
4 oz tinted glass spray bottle
15 drops Purify oil blend
15 drops Lavender
4 Tbsp witch hazel
Distilled water
Combine top 3 ingredients and top off with distilled water. The witch hazel will help the oils to disperse in the water, which is very helpful in creating an even blend for your spray!
